In this handbook, you will find the outline of our Later Years Curriculum
offerings, including the process for selecting and submitting Course
Selection preferences. We purposefully offer a wide range of subjects
for students to choose from which encourages ownership and
responsibility for their personalised learning program. It is important
for families and students to take note of the important dates identified
in the Course Selection process.
To complete your subject selections please not the Web Preferences Access Guide has been sent via email to your student College email account. This email includes your Student Access Code, your Password and a link to open Web Preferences, along
with a step-by-step guide to selecting preferences online. You will have also been given a hard copy via the student booklet given to students on Wednesday 04/08/21.
Important dates to note are:
Careers Education is an important part of your child’s schooling at Bannockburn College. In the Later Years 9-12, students develop an individual career action plan which is updated each year and will also undertake careers counselling prior to choosing their senior secondary subjects and further education and training courses.
Year 9: students engage in the Morrisby Careers Insights Assessment to help students determine their strengths, skills, interests across a broad range of areas.
Year 10: students take part in one week of Work Experience in an industry of their choosing to help expose students to the world of work.
Year 11 & 12: Incursions and excursions – Careers Expos University, TAFE
Year 12: VTAC applications
An annual Careers Expo will be held at the College that parents and students attend to help determine the most suitable pathways in subject selection and courses. Individual course counselling takes place for students in years 9-12 to help them decide on their subjects, VET, VCE, VCAL and/or School Based Apprenticeships.
Students and Parents have access to the Bannockburn Careers website. This website includes a range of resources for parents, students and teachers to help with developing student pathways. The website link is under Favorites on Compass or directly accessible here via the link
