Nurturing students’ wellbeing, academic growth, and engagement
At Bannockburn College, our Early Years program nurtures students’ wellbeing, academic growth, and engagement while fostering a strong sense of belonging within the wider school community. Each student is supported by a dedicated and multi-skilled team, including their homegroup teacher, year-level leader, wellbeing leading teacher, learning specialists, and sub-school assistant principal. Additional supports such as Education Support and Chaplaincy further enhance student success.
Academically, we provide differentiated learning across all subjects, ensuring that every child can achieve their personal best. The College is committed to evidence-based teaching, investing in high-quality resources that align with best practices in learning. This includes Direct Explicit Instruction (DIR), which complements the newly mandated phonics curriculum. Our Learning Specialists in Literacy and Numeracy provide expertise to ensure students receive targeted support throughout their learning journey.
Student wellbeing is a key priority, with a strong focus on social and emotional learning. Weekly lessons in Respectful Relationships (RR), School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), and Zones of Regulation are delivered under the ‘Learning for Life’ framework. These lessons equip students with essential problem-solving, emotional regulation, and critical thinking skills, fostering positive interactions and reducing classroom and playground disruptions.
Bannockburn College takes pride in offering a diverse range of specialist subjects from Prep through to the Later Years, ensuring students experience a rich and well-rounded education from the very beginning of their schooling journey.
