Bannockburn College and School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)
At Bannockburn College, we are committed to creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment for every student. To support this, we implement School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) as a whole-school approach, building consistency in expectations, language, and practices across all areas of the college—from classrooms to shared spaces, and in our interactions between students and staff.
SWPBS is a proactive, evidence-based framework that helps schools define, teach, and reinforce positive behaviours. It focuses on promoting a culture where expected behaviours are clearly communicated, explicitly taught, and consistently acknowledged. This approach not only supports student wellbeing but also enhances academic outcomes by creating environments that are conducive to learning.
Implementation of SWPBS at Bannockburn College involves a dedicated team, regular staff professional development, and a focus on data-informed decision making to guide our practices. Our work in this area is ongoing and reflective of our commitment to continuous improvement.
We are incredibly proud to share that Bannockburn P–12 College has been awarded Silver Level recognition in School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) by the Department of Education.
This achievement recognises the strong implementation of our Tier 1 supports and the deliberate, consistent work of staff in embedding Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS) across the College. Achieving Silver is a significant milestone in what is typically a 3–5 year improvement journey, and it reflects the collective commitment of our entire school community.
At Bannockburn, this work has been driven by a shared focus on consistency from Prep through to Year 12, across every classroom, every learning space and every interaction. As a result, we are seeing a positive shift in our culture, with clear routines, high expectations and supportive environments now embedded in daily practice.
This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the engagement of our students, and the ongoing support of our families. Together, we are building a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment where all students can thrive.
We look forward to continuing this journey as we strive towards our next milestone.

CARE Acknowledgement System – CARE Reward System
A key component of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework is a clear and consistent acknowledgement system.
At Bannockburn College, this is implemented through our CARE Coins, aligned with our CARE values—Curiosity, Achievement, Respect and Empathy—and our College Matrix of Expectations.
CARE Coins are used to explicitly recognise and reinforce positive behaviours demonstrated by students in line with these values. When a student receives a CARE Coin they receive a Compass notification and an automatic notification is sent home to families, celebrating the achievement and strengthening the positive connection between school and home.
