A dynamic and hands-on learning experience
Our VET Sport, Recreation, and Aquatics program offers Year 11 and 12 students a dynamic and hands-on learning experience, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed for careers in the sport, fitness, and recreation industries. This nationally recognized qualification provides students with real-world training, industry experience, and the opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork in a practical setting.
In Year 1, students will gain foundational knowledge in areas such as sports coaching and programming, event management, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate (CPR), risk assessment, and facilitating group activities. They will develop skills to instruct, plan, and lead physical activities in a range of environments, including schools, community sport programs, and fitness centres.
Year 2 builds on these foundations with a deeper focus on facilitating sports sessions for foundation level participants and recreational activities in external environments, while using advanced coaching techniques. Students will apply their learning by refining their ability to lead sessions safely, manage group dynamics, and provide feedback using industry-standard techniques.
Throughout the course, students will participate in practical sessions, excursions, and hands-on training, preparing them for future pathways in sports coaching, personal training, recreation facility management, and other allied health and fitness careers. Upon completion, students can earn credit towards their VCE and ATAR, as well as valuable industry certifications.
